About
“In my pictorial work, I try to convey a point of view on momentum, change, and the void of time.
I do so through various motifs and subjects, with even my mediums remaining undefined and multidimensional. It is through the various use of mediums that express the biases of “change,” using charcoal and graphite, a temporal medium for rushed moments, and alcohol ink, acrylic, and more tactile materials to express the impact of permanence. Cyanotype and typewriting as a medium lend to memory, time, and undetermined result despite calculated processes.
My works are often “rich” with intense contrasts in value and color. Some combinations are almost sickening, filling the eyes with overwhelming chroma. Others are vivid and moving with value, yet monochrome: charcoal and graphite on paper being fond old friends.
For many years, I have painted allegories of family interpersonal relationships and intrapersonal dissonance. Today, my work questions the paradox of change, being and becoming, happening in simultaneous.
In my paintings you can find silence against a raucous crowd, company in nothing, shift and change in stillness… persistence.”
